Therapeutic Approach

My practice is informed by Mentalisation-Based Therapy, which strongly focuses on understanding how relationships shape our lives. I draw on Attachment Theory, Biopsychosocial model, neuroscience, and the mind–body connection to support clients in exploring their experiences.

A key specialisation in my work is loss and grief. While bereavement is one form of loss, many people experience other kinds of losses, such as those connected to separation, divorce, financial strain, health changes, or shifts in identity. These experiences can be profoundly impactful and often sit at the heart of the difficulties clients bring to therapy.

I support people with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, bullying, behavioural or emotional issues, gender and identity issues, neurodiverse presentations, substance abuse, life transitions and illness and secondary loss and bereavement. My integrated approach creates space to explore how difficulties have developed and to discover new ways of moving forward with clarity and meaning.

I also use the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC), a framework that supports different ways of working with art materials. Sometimes we may begin with sensory, playful, or grounding activities, like working with clay, sand, or paint, which can build trust and safety. Over time, we may move toward symbolic or reflective artmaking, opening space for deeper insights. The ETC allows therapy to meet you where you are, offering flexibility and choice.

Building Trust and Collaboration

Trust, consistency, and safety are central to how I work. I pay attention not only to what is said, but also to nonverbal communication, gestures, tone, and presence, which research shows are essential in building a strong therapeutic relationship.

Equally important is co-production: therapy is something we create together. Your voice and perspective are at the centre of the process. By exploring your creative work collaboratively, we ensure that therapy is meaningful, empowering, and tailored to your needs.

What You Can Expect

Whether working one-to-one or in a group, I aim to offer a therapeutic experience that is dynamic, compassionate, and practical. I want you to feel supported in reflecting, discovering new insights, and bringing those understandings into your daily life in ways that create lasting change.

"The body speaks clearly to those who know how to listen....The multifaceted language of the body depicts a lifetime of joy, sorrows, and challenges, revealed in pattens of tension, movement, gesture, posture, breath, rhythm, prosody, facial expressions, sensations, psychological arousal, gait and other action sequences."
